THE PAINTER VALERIANO D. BÉCQUER AND HIS FAMILY CIRCLE: À PROPOS OF A PORTRAIT OF HIS WIFE GERARDO PÉREZ CALERO |
|
Valeriano D. Bécquer painting works are the most representative of the Romantic Sevillian School, not only the constumbrista genre, but also the portrait. About this subject, it is here analysed a very significant example of him as a painter as well as a husband: an unknown portrait of his wife, Winnefred Loghan, an Irish origins lady established in Spain. The couple broke up after having two children. Until now, we have not seen Winnefred's face. Now we have the first, an oval signed in 1860. |
